9. What are taxable benefits?

A taxable benefit is any type of compensation other than cash wages that the IRS has not exempted from taxation. 10. How will taxable benefits affect my paycheck?

They are subject to Social Security, Medicare, and Federal Income tax. The amount can vary depending on one's tax bracket. A rough estimate of taxes to be calculated on a taxable benefit is to divide the total benefit amount by 3. Approximately 1/3 of the benefit is the calculated tax amount. For example, a $900 benefit will cost about $300 in taxes. Below is a link to a pay check estimator that models how a taxable benefit could affect your paycheck. You will need your most recent payslip.
