Form 8233
International Students-Form 8233 Tax Treaty Compensation Exemption Information
Form-8233 for tax exemption needs to be completed if you are from these countries:
Bangladesh, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, France, Germany, Iceland, Indonesia, Israel, Korea, Rep. of, Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Spain, Thailand, Trinidad, Tobago, Tunisia, and Venezuela.
The above countries are exempt from U.S. Income tax based on the guidelines of each individual countries. Limits apply. If an 8233 is not completed, wages will be subject to income tax being deducted from your paycheck.
Please email the Payroll Office at Payroll_Office@baylor.edu to complete the form. You will need to email your passport, I-94 and I-20 along with the form 8233 once complete.
The countries listed below DO NOT have a tax treaty with the U.S. government exempting compensation paid to students. The Form 8233 DOES NOT need to be completed. NO ACTION IS NEEDED.
Australia, Austria, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Finland, Ghana, Greece, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Kazakstan, Kenya, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, New Zealand, Nigeria, Russia, Rwanda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Togo, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Yugoslavia.
